A full grid of 44 cars (plus up to 8 reserves who will qualify) will be the largest ever grid of Lotus cars and will include up to five 2-Elevens, Lotus’ latest track-focused offering. With other support races including Formula Palmer Audi, Britcar, Porsche Open, Heritage Grand Touring Cars, Formula Ford and Sports 2000 it should be a cracking weekend's racing on the historic GP circuit.
The front running Elise Trophy class C drivers, Chris Randall and Andrew Walsh, will be racing in class B cars for this round, which means up to 9 drivers could be competing for the outright win.

Ulsterman Donnelly competed in British F3 and F3000 from 1986-89, alongside the likes of Jean Alesi, Johnny Herbert & Mark Blundell. He made his F1 debut with Arrows at the French GP in 1989, continuing with Lotus in 1990. A promising F1 career was cut short after a horrific crash at Jerez.

- With 8 trophies including 5 class wins and an overall victory in the class A handicap race at Brands Hatch in November Gavin was the class of the field in class A. He was pushed very hard by a number of drivers towards the end of the season, which bodes well for some more great racing in class A in 2008.
- Class B (Modified): Steve Williams
- An astonishing 11 trophies, including 5 class wins, meant experienced racer Williams had the largest individual haul of silverware in 2007.

- With 9 trophies, including 8 class (& overall) wins and overall victory in the class B/C handicap race at Brands Hatch in November, Randall's Exige proved pretty much unbeatable throughout 2007.

- Over 25 Elise Trophy cars have entered the HGTCC 50 min endurance race at the Spa Racing Festival. This is in addition to competing in the two Elise Trophy races at the same meet.

- Former Lotus F1 driver Martin Donnelly took a sensational victory at Donington Park on Sunday 2nd September in his debut appearance in the Elise Trophy.
- Donnelly, who was driving Paul Golding's Elise S1, triumphed in the handicap race to take a popular comeback victory, having already taken a class win in the scratch race. The Irishman had last raced in the Britcar 24 Hour race in September 2004.

- Ex F1 Lotus driver Martin Donnelly will race Paul Golding's class A car (black Elise S160) at the MSVR Blast in the Park at Donington Park on 1st-2nd September.
- Donnelly made his F1 debut for the Arrows team at the French GP in 1989. In 1990 he drove for Lotus, alongside Derek Warwick. A horrific accident at Jerez, which he was very lucky to survive, ended his promising Formula 1 career.
- His presence is a very exciting addition to the grid for our Donington Park round, where once again we have a full entry list of 36 cars.
- MSVR are holding an Open Sports/GT race at Donington Park National Circuit on 2nd September 2007. Cars eligible to race are Sports Racing Cars (Radicals, Junos etc.), Sports Cars (Caterhams, MGs etc.) and GT Cars (Porsche, Ferrari, Noble etc.).
- The format is 1 x 15 min qualifying and 2 x 15 minute races, tyre choice is unrestricted.

- Just one week after the DTM weekend at Brands Hatch the Elise Trophy heads to Silverstone. As with all our rounds so far this year, we will once again field a full grid, that's 40 cars at Silverstone, our biggest yet!
