15 Jul 2008: 1hr special on Motors TV this Friday featuring Brands Hatch GP races
A 1hr special programme will be shown on Motors TV from Friday 18th July, featuring the Elise Trophy races on the Brands Hatch GP circuit in May, supporting A1GP.

First transmission is at 7pm on Friday 18th July in the UK and it is also being shown in mainland Europe.

07 Jun 2008: Silverstone GP extra race confirmed for 2008

We're pleased to announce an additional round in the 2008 calendar, supporting the Britcar 24hr race on the Silverstone GP circuit on 19th-20th September. This will be our first race on the GP circuit at Silverstone and we expect to field a full grid of 48 cars.

30 May 2008: Drivers raise over £1000 for Teenage Cancer Trust

Several Elise Trophy drivers (including Steve Williams, James Knight, Elgan Howell, Tess Howell, Damian Murray & Andrew Kell) plus a couple of Lotus on Track regulars (Steve Knapp & Robert Newton) plus Andy Stanford from the Caterham Academy gave "hot" passenger laps at the annual Club Lotus track day at Castle Combe in Wiltshire on Saturday 24th May, raising over £1000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

22 May 2008: Elise Trophy confirms 2nd race at Spa

We will now quallify at 11.30am on Saturday 31/5 and will have an additional 20 min race on Sunday at 9am to go with our 40minute race on Sunday afternoon..

The race report from the third round of the season at Brands Hatch, supporting A1GP, is now available.

28 Apr 2008: Supporting A1GP at Brands Hatch this weekend

For round 3 of the 2008 Elise Trophy we’re returning to Brands Hatch to support A1GP, the "World Cup of Motorsport", on the GP circuit from 2-4 May.

A full grid of 44 cars (plus up to 8 reserves who will qualify) will be the largest ever grid of Lotus cars and will include up to five 2-Elevens, Lotus’ latest track-focused offering. With other support races including Formula Palmer Audi, Britcar, Porsche Open, Heritage Grand Touring Cars, Formula Ford and Sports 2000 it should be a cracking weekend's racing on the historic GP circuit.

The front running Elise Trophy class C drivers, Chris Randall and Andrew Walsh, will be racing in class B cars for this round, which means up to 9 drivers could be competing for the outright win.

Thanks to the Historic Lotus Club the following cars will be on display (and will take part in a parade around the circuit) at the Lotus Celebration on Sun 23rd March:
  • Lotus Mk2 - 1950 - red - the world’s oldest surviving Lotus.
  • Lotus Mk6R - 1956 - green - this car represents the first real production Lotus.
  • Lotus Six - 1956 - green - an in-period copy of the Lotus Mk 6
  • Lotus Eleven Le Mans Series 2 - 1957 - british racing green - famous car, once owned by Ivor Bueb, twice winner of Le Mans with Jaguar 1956-57.
  • Lotus 17 - 1959 - british racin green - successor to the Lotus Eleven, a very successful international historic race car.
  • Lotus Seven S1 - 1959 - silver - an immaculate restoration of the most successful Lotus mark.
  • Lotus 18/21 - Formula One - 1960 - british racing green/yellow flash - carries race number 28 - this car has raced in Formula One and the Tasman Series.
  • Lotus 18 Formula One - 1961 - white - carries race number 77 - a successful Formula One car that is still raced internationally today.

  • Lotus 51 Formula Ford - 1967 - white/green flash - restored about three years ago, this car is now being used for hill climbs.
  • Lotus Elan - 1968 - blue .
  • Lotus Elan Plus Two 1969 - blue/silver - immaculate restoration.
  • Lotus Europa - 1969 - green - maybe the only Europa to carry a wing from a Formula One Williams!
  • Lotus Elan S4 - 1969 - yellow - bought in 1980 as a rolling wreck and now totally restored.
  • Lotus Elan Sprint - 1969 - orange/white - bought recently after a long search for a Sprint.
  • Lotus Excel SE - 1989 - carnival red - this car represents the last of the Elite/Eclat/Excel series. It has the 2.2 litre 180 bhp engine.
  • JPS Europa Special 1971 - black and gold - one of the best JPS Specials in existence.
  • Lotus Esprit S3 - 1984 - black/gold - featured in Classics Magazine, February 2005.
  • Lotus Esprit - 1987 - black.
  • Lotus Elise S2 Sport 190 - 2001 - gunmetal - only 35 examples of this car were made by Lotus.
  • Lotus Sport 135R Elise - 2003- silver

13 Mar 2008: Motors TV extend Elise Trophy coverage

Motors TV will once again be transmitting coverage of this year's Elise Trophy races. Coverage will be extended to include mainland Europe, good news for Elise Trophy fans in France, Germany, Holland etc. The Elise Trophy programmes will once again be produced by Race Television motorsport TV productions.

10 Mar 2008: Ex Lotus F1 star Donnelly to race 2-Eleven

Ex Lotus F1 driver Martin Donnelly will once again be racing a Lotus in the Elise Trophy in 2008. After successful outings in a class A Elise at Donington Park & Spa Francorchamps in 2007, this year he will be racing a class B 2-Eleven, and will be in action at the Lotus Celebration on 23-24 March.

Ulsterman Donnelly competed in British F3 and F3000 from 1986-89, alongside the likes of Jean Alesi, Johnny Herbert & Mark Blundell. He made his F1 debut with Arrows at the French GP in 1989, continuing with Lotus in 1990. A promising F1 career was cut short after a horrific crash at Jerez.

The Lotus 2-Eleven, powered by a supercharged Toyota engine, is Lotus' latest model and is designed purely for the track. Expect some fireworks towards the front of the grid with Donnelly at the wheel!

27 Feb 2008: Dr Feelgood confirmed for Lotus Celebration

Dr Feelgood have confirmed they will be performing at the Lotus Celebration at Brands Hatch in March. Formed on Canvey Island in Essex in the 1970s Dr Feelgood remains one of the most popular and exciting live rhythm and blues acts in the world. They have enjoyed global success with a string of hit singles including Roxette, Back in the Night, Milk and Alcohol, Down at the Doctors, She Does it Right, Going Back Home and See You Later Alligator.

2008 sees the band continue to tour extensively throughout the world visiting exciting new places and thrilling crowds with the vitality of their live show.

The Elise Trophy 2008 safety car has been unveiled. The Europa S, supplied by Lipscomb Lotus, in Kent is a top of the range model and will be supporting all the Elise Trophy rounds in 2008, including the A1GP event at Brands Hatch in May and Spa Francorchamps in June.

We already have a full grid of 44 cars (plus reserves) signed up for our race at Brands Hatch GP, supporting A1GP on 2nd-4th May. The Elise Trophy is clearly set for an outstanding second year, with 52 drivers also already signed up for the opening round at Brands Hatch in March, where we will once again be running 2 grids, one for the class A (Production) cars and one for the class B/C (Modified/Super Modified) cars.

20 Dec 2007: 2007 drivers of the season announced

Congratulations to the following drivers who have been voted "driver of the season" in each class:
  • Class A (Production): Gavin Kirby
    With 8 trophies including 5 class wins and an overall victory in the class A handicap race at Brands Hatch in November Gavin was the class of the field in class A. He was pushed very hard by a number of drivers towards the end of the season, which bodes well for some more great racing in class A in 2008.
  • Class B (Modified): Steve Williams
    An astonishing 11 trophies, including 5 class wins, meant experienced racer Williams had the largest individual haul of silverware in 2007.
  • Class C (Super Modified): Chris Randall
    With 9 trophies, including 8 class (& overall) wins and overall victory in the class B/C handicap race at Brands Hatch in November, Randall's Exige proved pretty much unbeatable throughout 2007.

14 Dec 2007: Elise in top 10 cars of the year

Autosport, in their "best of 2007" edition, have put the Lotus Elise 9th in their "top 10 cars of the year" feature. According to Autosport the Elise Trophy has "provided capacity (and often oversubscribed) grids throughout the series' first season and helped a lot of rookies into racing."

  • Former Lotus F1 driver Martin Donnelly took a sensational victory at Donington Park on Sunday 2nd September in his debut appearance in the Elise Trophy.
  • Donnelly, who was driving Paul Golding's Elise S1, triumphed in the handicap race to take a popular comeback victory, having already taken a class win in the scratch race. The Irishman had last raced in the Britcar 24 Hour race in September 2004.
  • Andrew Walsh returned to the top step of the podium in the scratch race, taking the overall victory.

23 Aug 2007 : Ex Formula 1 star Martin Donnelly to race in Elise Trophy at Donington Park!
  • Ex F1 Lotus driver Martin Donnelly will race Paul Golding's class A car (black Elise S160) at the MSVR Blast in the Park at Donington Park on 1st-2nd September.
  • Donnelly made his F1 debut for the Arrows team at the French GP in 1989. In 1990 he drove for Lotus, alongside Derek Warwick. A horrific accident at Jerez, which he was very lucky to survive, ended his promising Formula 1 career.
  • His presence is a very exciting addition to the grid for our Donington Park round, where once again we have a full entry list of 36 cars.
20 Aug 2007 : Open Sports/GT race @ Donington Park - 2nd September
  • MSVR are holding an Open Sports/GT race at Donington Park National Circuit on 2nd September 2007. Cars eligible to race are Sports Racing Cars (Radicals, Junos etc.), Sports Cars (Caterhams, MGs etc.) and GT Cars (Porsche, Ferrari, Noble etc.).
  • The format is 1 x 15 min qualifying and 2 x 15 minute races, tyre choice is unrestricted.
  • So if you've got a race-prepped Elise/Exige/340R, VX220, Caterham, Porsche, Ferrari, Radical etc. it's an opportunity to race on the famous Donington circuit, and get 2 upgrade signatures on your licence.

01 Jun 2007 : Full grid confirmed for DTM weekend after just 6 hours
  • Just 6 hours after the announcement, and with only just over a week's notice, we are already oversubscribed and will field a full grid of 32 cars at Brands Hatch next weekend. In fact we are also taking the maximum number of reserves permitted (6) and also have a reserve list to be a reserve, so a maximum 38 cars will qualify.

14 Mar 2007 : Lotus to have strong presence at Brands Hatch Celebration

  • Lotus have confirmed that their exciting new 2-Eleven protoype circuit car will be taking to the track for demonstration laps at the Lotus Brands Hatch Celebration on 24 March!! They will also be bringing along some show cars 'hot' from the 2007 Geneva motor show. And don't forget, for a bit of nostalgia, several historic Lotus racing cars will be running too.

12 Mar 2007 : TV Coverage confirmed!

  • A full grid of 32 cars will be 'launching' into Paddock Hill Bend at the first race for the Elise Trophy! All the time & effort that has gone in to the planning and preparation of this exciting event will come to fruition at last. Expect explosive action as drivers finally get to drive the cars they have been preparing in the weeks/months prior to the event.
